This Quick Video Tip is all about the type of content that you post on social media.

The rule is: 80% of what you post should be educational, entertaining, informative, and all around enticing — and it should NOT promote or advertise your products or services at all!

The remaining 20% of the content you post CAN promote your products or services. You can tell your fans about your latest sale, or newest product, or best services, or ask them to sign up for your newsletter, or subscribe to your blog, or anything else. This is where you can push your sales message to your fans.

Why should you adopt the 80/20 rule?? Because the quickest way to have your fan “dislike” you is to push sales messages on them. Your fans are choosing to engage with YOU, reward them with content that is stimulating and interesting. No one wants to hop on a Facebook page just to encounter a self promoting brand (unless that brand is giving away free product or coupons, and that’s another story entirely).

Therefore, stick to the 80/20 rule when posting on Facebook and other social media sites, and you’ll see that your fans reward you with more likes, comments, and shares.
